Monique & Cheryl-Leigh – Hunter Valley Wedding

Monique and Cheryl-leigh’s wedding at Mystwood Wedding Venue in the Hunter Valley was such a beautiful day to photograph.

Honestly, this was my first time photographing a same sex wedding, although definitely not my first time photographing a same sex couple. Over the years I have photographed many same sex couples through newborn and family sessions, so for me this day was simply about capturing Monique and Cheryl-leigh, their relationship, and the people around them.

They were also really clear that they didn’t want heaps of staged or overly posed photos. They wanted the real moments with each other. Of course, many people think it just happens……..but you still need to give some direction – eg putting them in the right light and me asking them to do stupid or random things to get that natural reaction but still get pretty photos.

But I also sill need to get that classic shot for the grandparents too!

Mystwood was such a beautiful Hunter Valley wedding venue for this style of photography, I hadn’t photographed at this venue before but it had so many gorgeous spots without needing to drag the couple away from their guests for hours as well.

And Monique and Cheryl-leigh’s wedding had plenty of those beautiful little moments and I love being able to share these with you.
